Approximately 4,000 beans are needed to produce one pound of roasted coffee. Black coffee (without sugar or milk)does not contain calories (less than 1 Kcal.) The coffee cherry looks like a cranberry and is protected by a skin called parchment. Coffee beans are actually the two flat-sided seeds inside the cherry. Coffee only grows in tropical and sub-tropical regions.
